Unfortunately, successfully convinced some people to continue supporting him and to completely ignore the reality of it. That includes a few smart people who used to support my work. He's really good at manipulating people in person, even though it should be easy to see through.

I have the impression that neurotypical people are much worse at seeing through the superficial charm of psychopaths / narcissists. I don't really get how people fall for it so easily. It's the only reason Copperhead is still able to chug along and keep causing confusion / harm.

I don't necessarily believe that. There's one in the white house who's managed to fool people his entire life.

I just have the impression people on the autism spectrum, etc. are less easily fooled by narcissists/psychopaths because a lot of the way they charm people doesn't really work when you're more consciously / explicitly interpreting social cues. Just my feeling on it, not science.

The way he manipulates people can come across as super awkward and cheesy via text, but many people really do completely fall for it in person. The fact that he can't stop doing it prevented us from ever working productively as a team, and I couldn't ever tolerate it for long.
