It's not used on macOS, iOS or on Android by default.
I don't find it noticeable with high quality fonts and full hinting with FreeType's lcdlight filter:

It's necessarily noticeable and hideous, and ruins your screenshots by making them device-dependent.

If two strokes have 4 subpixels of space between them, it's necessarily not going to look anything close to white.
