Crazy, it's looking more like users will need both a Firefox update and re-install all extensions/addons. Yikes.

There seems to still be an option to support legacy extensions, but not sure if it actually works anymore.

I think it was always a partial compatibility layer and wouldn't have worked for anything truly requiring more functionality. The extensions it would have supported mostly had a trivial migration path to the new extension system. I think they still run in the extension sandbox.
