Updated sample releases of the new hardened Android OS project are available for the Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL via seamlessupdate.app. This is still a very early preview and isn't yet intended for much more than testing. It should be more stable though.

I'm not aware of any other hardened operating systems being actively developed for Pixel phones or other Android devices. This is a continuation of my previous work and as I've explained it's a demo of hardening technologies that are available for other devices and OSes too.

I developed the entirety of the original CopperheadOS, which was hijacked in June 2018 and no longer exists in the original form. It's no longer safe or secure. It doesn't receive full security updates, isn't properly maintained and has no development of privacy/security work.

The original projects have been continued as an independent organization with permissive licensing. The new OS from Copperhead is a poorly maintained fork of the obsolete legacy code, which they're using illegally in violation of the licenses. That's little more than a scam now.

The Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 are the initially supported devices due to offering the best security along with having full support for installing alternative operating systems with all security features available. The work is applicable to other devices too.

Other devices will be supported down the road. Devices will need to meet basic security standards including ongoing security updates for all the components. Devices also need to support baseline hardware security features like verified boot and attestation for alternative OSes.

twitter.com/DanielMicay/st A lot of the hardening is also applicable to other OSes, not just other Android devices. The hardened allocator has full support for both glibc and musl in addition to Bionic and is tested with them. It could be integrated into them as I did with Bionic.

Some non-Pixel devices like the Xiaomi Mi A2 appear to finally support verified boot, attestation and other core hardware-based security features with alternative OSes so those are potential candidates. They aren't yet on par with Pixels, but there's decent progress towards that.
