Updated sample releases of the new hardened Android OS project are available for the Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL via seamlessupdate.app. This is still a very early preview and isn't yet intended for much more than testing. It should be more stable though.

The 2019.01.09.00 release brings the January security update, the latest revision of the hardened allocator (github.com/AndroidHardeni), Chromium 71.0.3578.99 with a partial port of previous changes (github.com/AndroidHardeni) and assorted small privacy and security improvements.

It also has a temporary workaround for some of the camera issues on the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. These issues are caused by upstream bugs in code maintained by Google and Qualcomm, and there aren't enough resources available to fix it all downstream, so it will be a slow process.

For now, this project is primarily a demo of the new hardened allocator. The intention is for it to become a much broader project with many OS privacy and security enhancements along with alternatives to Play Services features like U2F and encrypted backups without needing ADB.

It also demonstrates the ability of the Auditor app and Attestation Server (attestation.app) to verify alternative operating systems. It supports the sample Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL releases with support for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL releases coming in the next app update.

I'm not aware of any other hardened operating systems being actively developed for Pixel phones or other Android devices. This is a continuation of my previous work and as I've explained it's a demo of hardening technologies that are available for other devices and OSes too.
