Hey trying out Spacemacs recently. Not sold on it yet, but I am sold on Caps Lock/Esc swap

i don't think Caps_Lock/Esc swap is stock Emacs tho. Didn't know Spacemacs did that... I roll my own custom config. Good for you though.

now maybe you're a good person to ask about this spud: why emacs, why vim? I want to try Emacs because I think I understands its benefits: how would you compare them? (note that having vim keybinds is imperative for my emacs experience)

OK thx, my feelings too. You do lots of programming: do you configure Vim much for IDE use? Or use lots of :wq and vim x/y.c ? I feel like I never used Vim correctly there, and maybe Emacs is better for a "project" setup

OK. two more quick qs: for big projects, do you jump around files using the shell a lot? & for git, do you use the shell command?
looks like I work very similar to you currently

I use Git integration in Vim for the sole purpose of viewing the output from git blame. I do like having method auto-completion with docstrings since I switch between so many languages with different libs and it saves time having quick access to the list of methods for each type.
