It's amusing that people think sqlite.org/codeofconduct. is intended as satire. Richard Hipp is a devout Christian and proselytizing is part of that. I think he's being entirely sincere. As an atheist, I think it's ridiculous but I can respect that he actually lives by his beliefs.

This appears to be a tone def way of saying they don't want a CoC. This is damaging because CoC matter for those least in power.
Belittling it in such a way sends the message that CoCs don't matter and the issues that require them are laughing matters.

Why is it belittling? It's a great way to have CoC. It adds some humor, while not loosing the core meaning.

Even though it looks a lot like satire and is pretty funny, I think they're being genuine and didn't actually intend it that way. If anything, the ridiculousness of seriously adopting this as their code of conduct makes it even funnier.

It's really hard to tell if it's meant to be at all tongue in cheek / sarcastic, but based on the sincere values / beliefs of the person doing it I don't think it's a joke, especially after their mailing list response: sqlite.1065341.n5.nabble.com/Regarding-CoC-.

I did not say satire, I said "tone def".
They don't want a CoC but they choose a passive aggressive way to make their statement and they have committed to it.
CoC are there to protect and their act undermines all the work to adopt CoCs, that is what makes it a poor decision.

My interpretation is they took issue with the content of proper CoCs rather than having one. I'm reading between the lines of referring to something like the Contributor Convenant as "trendy" and "pop music - selling millions of copies today and completely forgotten next year".
I can't speak for them, and I'm just speculating, but I get the feeling that this has to do with a conflict between their beliefs and supporting certain protected classes included in the Contributor Convenant, etc. They didn't explicitly state it, but that's how I read it.
