Gawk has a plug-in interface so you can extend it by loading your own .so files. So does bash. I used both and some days I'm proud of that and some days I am ashamed..

It also exists for GNU make:

It has an embedded Guile Scheme interpreter too:
gnu.org/software/make/
Have thankfully never seen anything using the load directive.
