Diplomacy is most often conducted with discretion. Neocon hysteria re. improving Russia relations wld have justified carefulness.

You can't just blame everything on "neocon hysteria". There are legitimate and fairly obvious reasons why cozying up to Putin is a bad idea.

Engaging in diplomacy is not "cozying up." It's hard to believe that Americans are this retarded! Good relations are in MUTUAL interest!

So, it requires denying contacts, past future business & associations, require secret meetings and secret methods of communication. Wtf.

Instead, our approach to any complex foreign relationship has to fit into one of three boxes: threats, sanctions, or bombs.

I'd add a fourth: Bribes. Those come before the other three, but the other three usually follow.
