I’ve been shocked by the different requirements, processes and intermediaries in each country. In some countries you can register a business in minutes but in others it takes time, lawyers and notaries. In some countries it it virtually free; in others it’s expensive. It goes on

There is no reason why in 2019 you should need any lawyers, notaries or intermediaries to set up a business. It needs a website. That’s it. There is no reason why requirements - for residents, share capital, legal domicile - should be so different in different European countries.

If we want European businesses to easily scale and compete globally then we need to make it easy for a business to start somewhere in Europe and to scale elsewhere in Europe. The EU “encourages” a fast procedure and an online portal but many countries do not adhere to thispic.twitter.com/Uke4krH5oA

It should be possible, with new technology, to create many similar and interoperable systems of business registration if people don’t want a single, EU-wide system. But something needs to change

The fragmented regulatory system combined with the overly suspicious banking culture that results in inquires for every remittance made from a European account is stifling. And no EU politician is talking about it.

Well said. Having a company in one European country with a bank account doesn’t not seem to make it easier to set up a business and a business account elsewhere in Europe. That’s clearly idiotic

setting up a business in EU not a walk in the park, Easynet and Cyberia had a number of European businesses, it was a drama every time. But it is still LESS drama than setting up an US or Indian business, all countries now watch for money laundering etc
