My cousin’s baby was born early and has some genetic problems as well as a cleft palette. The medical bills are extensive as well as the travel costs. Plus they will also need help to provide her at-home care. Please donate and share!

Just an appreciation tweet for my cousin . I’ve been thinking of coming out for years and along with an incredibly amazing and supportive family, I knew that she’d have my back no matter how anyone else felt. It’s so important to have someone like that.

@ teachers pls don't force your indigenous students to do readings that are freaking traumatizing. I shouldn't have had to calm down my cousin over the phone while she's having a panic attack bc her teacher forced her to read Indian Horse after explaining her father's a survivor

My last semester, I was commuting from the complete opposite side of the city and relied on the very unreliable metro to get to campus. I could leave home 2 hours before class and still be 30 minutes late sometimes. But rent was cheaper there than close to campus.

My grandfather passed away a month into my 1st year. I flew home almost every weekend to be with family. The cheapest flights were Thursday evenings, so I missed my 8:10pm stats class a lot (& turned in homework early). No idea what my grade would've been if he'd taken attendance

Definitely keep track of attendance!! Check in on your students that are missing lots of class and see what's up. But do not give a great student a B because she missed 3 classes for reasons totally out of her control.

I will die on this hill, but penalizing students for absences 1) is a waste of your time/resources, and 2) always hurts the most vulnerable students the most (ones w/o access to health care, working 3 jobs, dealing with personal stuff, mental health problems, etc)
