I was so moved by Evelyn's story. Like her, I froze too when I was assaulted. It helped me to hear that I was not alone. It always made me feel like I should have fought. Cognitively I understand but still I struggle with the thought that maybe I could have stopped it.

It’s so common for assault victims to freeze (and predators know this and exploit it) try to think of it as going into survival mode. And look at you now, a survivor who can speak about her experience. That’s exactly what fighting back looks like.

Oh this hurt so much.
I cried for both Evelyn and Andrew. I’m so sorry Evelyn. You’re so brave and amazing. Thank you for sharing this painful & powerful story. Thank you @AndrewYang for being such a supportive husband to Evelyn. We love you guys.

I cried, too. Very touching and infuriating
at the same time. I can’t believe no justice has been made. Why a doctor gets away with this? - Još 3 druga odgovora

Dana, thank you for covering her story, such a good job. Evelyn, thank you for being a brave role model and leader. You and your family are changing lives. Your strength will inspire many.

The same thing happened to me and a friend of mine. Police did nothing but the state board suspended his license for ten years. Debilitating depression followed. Very powerful man politically.

That was so hard to watch . It is a double betrayal when the court system lets you down. When I had an abusive relationship and reported it to police it only made things worse . They never did anything until he had drugs on him after an assault. They then dismissed the DV charge.

It would have been a 3rd DV charge so considered a felony. He went to jail for the drugs only & he was released early so I had to move, get a new job, new number. He broke the restraining order from the jail by mailing letters Got out & repeat the cycle with another teenager.

So often survivors of sexual assault feel it is their fault for not screaming or running. The truth is the shock of it overtakes you physically. Thank you Evelyn for telling your story. Your courage will help so many.
-
Yes, thank you for saying that. It's important to raise awareness of these very normal reactions to trauma. As in this case, there are often also elements of authority or power imbalances, & the element of surprise or being at some type of disadvantage.https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK207191/ …
