Australia is on fire! The horrific brush fires sweeping the continent are a destructive force on a sobering scale. The flames and the record heat are evidence of a climate crisis that has long since gone from the theoretical to the actual. We need action and leadership.

I have seen tweets blaming arson rather than climate change. Some people are determined to stick their heads in the sand.

Dismissive attitudes gain traction when there is a grain of truth. Some of our California fires were related to arson. What people may not realize is that the hot dry weather and winds create conditions where a small blaze initially easily controlled now burns unabated.
