This is why GOP wanted to shun any common sense measures like a total lockdown for 2 weeks, flight bans, masks, and vaccines. They want to drag this out for as long as possible so their corporate friends can capitalize on small businesses shuttering & people losing their homes.

The GOP had and still has a financial incentive to drag this out while claiming to be for freedom. This could have been knocked out in weeks but just like taking a partial prescription prolongs illness, giant swaths of citizens not staying in maximizes corporate profits.

That's about $30 billion per year per million people on UBI. I'm not sure how many people would actually need that UBI… but I don't think taxes on billionaires alone would cover it all right now.
