  1. This is chilling and well written. It captures the creepy unethical smugness with which forced tapers of pain medication are often carried out: How It Feels to Be Force Tapered Off Pain Medication | The Mighty

  2. CHRONIC PAIN PATIENT POLL: Will you vote in the 2020 elections? If so, how important is a candidate’s knowledge of chronic pain and his/ her willingness to defend access to safely prescribed opioids for patients who need them as a last resort for pain management?

  3. Great CPP memes. Most CPPs somehow don’t lose their sense of humor...

  4. Yes. Could somebody let the VA know that forced opioid and BZD tapers are unethical, are harmful, and destabilize chronic pain patients.

  5. From : Coronavirus is probably about as contagious as the common cold but far less deadly than Spanish flu, SARS, MERS, Smallpox, Ebola, and Bird flu. It’s serious but no need for hysteria and panic.

  6. many NV Veterans unnecessarily dying of lung cancer b/c VA refuses to properly screen Veterans for lung cancer. This is outrageous. Lung cancer is a deadly disease UNLESS it’s detected early thru low-dose annual CT screening. It’s an annual mammogram for smokers.

  7. NV has the lethal combination of a high tobacco use rate, high percentage of retired Veterans, & a politician on House VA Affairs Committee who would rather create barriers for Veterans w chronic pain than help NV Veterans detect a lethal disease at a curable stage.

  8. Anti-opioid crusaders have tried to stigmatize CPPs by calling safely prescribed pain meds “heroin pills” & claiming CPPs are in “heroin prep school.” Some claim CPPs are addicted to pain. IYO, will these hateful people ever take personal responsibility for the harm they’ve done?

  9. Important comment by the always diplomatic . One sentence summary: The study shows that while solving nothing, the ham-fisted approach pushed by anti-opioid do-gooders and ignorant zealots has substantially harmed stable CPPs on long-term higher dose opioids.

  10. I guess it’s important to keep the overprescribing narrative going no matter what the data show?

  12. This paper actually shows that anesthesiology/ pain medicine prescribe the most opioids (as expected). (In other news, OBs deliver the most babies.) But the authors split the two so family medicine would be the most “overprescribing” specialty?

  13. CHRONIC PAIN PATIENT POLL: Opioid prescribing rates have been decreasing for the last 9 years & w/ recent significant drops, US is now approaching a 20-year low. Now that the opioid over-prescribing era is OVER, what should the next move(s) be?

  14. I guess the hope is that voters will never figure out that the skyrocketing opioid deaths are due to heroin, diverted & stolen prescription meds, and illicit fentanyl. CPPs rarely died from their own safely prescribed meds.

  15. And I learned today that US opioid prescribing rates are now approaching a 20-year low. But for some reason, self-serving politicians want opioid overprescribing to still be a problem...

  16. REALITY CHECK: Opioid prescribing rates have been dropping for NINE YEARS. The opioid overprescribing from 10-20 years ago is over! There's no credit to be taken here, move along... Trump Ending America's Opioid Crisis via

  17. 2/2 People died for more than a decade before meaningful treatment for HIV was developed in mid-90s; too late for Shilts, Rock Hudson, Liberace, Amanda Blake, Isaac Asimov, et al. Anybody who thinks American did a "good job" with the AIDS Crisis needs to have his head examined.

  19. Yes, I have Veteran CPPs who have left VA due to forced opioid tapers. Meanwhile, self-serving politicians promote the lie that VA is "throwing" Rx opioids at Veterans. And anybody who doesn't agree with unethical destabilizing forced opioid tapers is labeled a shill.

one problem with the opioid "truth" campaign is that it's not true that opioid addiction can start within five days. Dependence /= addiction and it matters
