Leaving free #fentanyl test strips in convenient places where people gather, such as bars, may help reduce the risk of overdose. “Test strips are cheap, easy to use and easy to read,” UCSF’s Dr. says, calling them "the latest & greatest."

BREAKING: The FDA has approved the first naloxone product available without a prescription. While this removes the final regulatory barrier to naloxone access, it does not on its own lower the cost. By @kastaliamedrano: filtermag.org/fda-otc-naloxo

While we welcome #naloxone in any form being accessible over-the-counter, we’re echoing the need for naloxone to be free and accessible for all. Harm reductionists have been working hard to make this happen. #narcan #naloxonesaveslives #narcansaveslives #harmreductionworks

🧵#Naloxone saves lives, & it should be free, over-the-counter, & accessible to all-including outside pharmacy walls. For many years now, people who use drugs, harm reductionists, & the programs they run have been distributing life-saving naloxone..(1/3) filtermag.org/fda-narcan-otc

Will ketamine tx follow a common path: "an initial overestimation of benefit, followed by more tempered results and recognition of previously undetected harm"? Let science and reasonable regulation prevail. A Fraught New Frontier in Telehealth: Ketamine

A supply side approach to reducing fentanyl problems certainly has political appeal. But will it work? 2 generations worth of data show the failure of the #warondrugs #harmreduction and demand reduction have a good evidence base and are finally being supported. Its about time!

Fentanyl is killing more than 70,000 Americans a year. Let’s launch a major surge to stop fentanyl production and sale, with drug detection machines to inspect cargo and stop pills and powder at the border — and impose strong penalties to crack down on trafficking.

I was invited to join this celebration of passage of the MAT Act. This bill deregulated prescribing buprenorphine for treatment of OUD. I was deeply involved. Thanks to the leadership of Rep. Tonko (NY), and Dr Gupta ! I missed the event due to major surgery!
