My new least favorite genre of tweet is “Uhh sure, New York is sooo over” juxtaposed with a photo of a park or skyline or people eating. New York isn’t over, but the skyline still existing doesn’t prove that

Farmers' markets, outdoor yoga classes, impromptu dance parties — New York City is clearly now a nightmarish urban wasteland https://nym.ag/2DQQKfy

Something I always think about when checking out a cool skyline is "those are all credit card companies and hotels." None of the good shit is in a skyscraper!

That’s where you are very wrong sir. In HK most of the nightlife is in towers, and on higher floors. One of my best nights in that city was singing karaoke in a lesbian bar on the 25th floor of a building with tons of different bars and clubs.

Just came from two hours out in the antithesis of what the so-called president keeps yammering about. Maybe someone needs to do an aerial photo of Manhattan to show it's not aflame.

I think what I tend to respond to is not that NY is dying (it won't. NY is cyclical) but the folks who tell me about the horrible crime (still lower than 5 years ago) or the ongoing riots (there were never any) or the looting (two days in June).
