Jamaica's participation in bobsledding is ridiculous. It does not emerge from local capacity, activity, or behaviour (not to mention geography!), and so does not REPRESENT Jamaica. It is and will always be just tokenism.pic.twitter.com/JCz6dO3MLE

There's a place for everything! If a spectacular or tokenism, then so be it...harmless enough. That Jamaicans enjoy and participate professionally in CRICKET, a classic British sport says enough. Give them a break...and support them. One Love Still !

This I totally agree with also. Cricket wasn't even meant for Jamaicans/Caribbeans/blacks. But we do support a Jamaica/West Indies cricket team

This is a nonsensical reply. I'm not criticising the origin of the sport. We have a Jamaican cricket because tens of thousands of Jamaicans actually play cricket. But no one in Jamaica bobsleighs. No one.

No one 'bobsleigh' in Jamaica but the Boblsled team is made up of Jamaicans who do part of their training in Jamaica. The sport is not representing a country. The athletes are.

My point is you can't draw a parallel with cricket.

The basis of my original tweet was that sending "representatives" doesn't make sense when the domestic activity does not exist. Therefore, there is no parallel cricket since that domestic activity existed long before we sent representatives abroad.

Your identification of the word "representatives" support your argument. But I think that's a bit removed from your original point, and the one I take issue with. I believe ANY PERSON should and could endeavor to engage or excell in any field of endeavor. Sports or otherwise.

How does it affect me? If you are suggesting that one is not entitled to an opinion unless one is directly, personally effected, then you have violated that by expressing an opinion on my tweet.

Oh, so now it's an 'opinion'? Next time make that clear, because it's stated as tho it's factual. Now being the very opinionated person I am, I would never suggest that you aren't entitled to yours. However, I am also entitled to respond since your 'opinion' was posted publicly.

This tweet astounds me and belies your intelligence. It ABSOLUTELY represents what is Jamaica and its spirit... one which holds that we are boundless, revolutionary and, mostly, open-minded! Sports are global - not land-locked. I just can't even...just speechless. Chuh! :(

But where is it said that a sport (or any competitive activity) needs to be representative of competing nations? It is the athlete that represents the country, not the sport.

You are very wrong. An Island of 3 million has a diaspora in many northern countries. Jamaica's participation in Bobsledding is inspiring. There is nothing Jamaicans cannot conquer and excel at, Mr. King.

And furthermore to us Jamaicans, don’t you dare try to entire figure skating or embark on any other activity that is not done on concrete or grass. Don’t even think about anything water related apart from swimming 🤦‍♀️ #sarcasm....compete, gain experiences and dominate #grow

The only flaw I find in your statement is that you left out "in my opinion". As is your statement is presented as irrefutable fact, based on empirical evidence. Had you qualified it as I have suggested then there would be no problem
