In February, Our Wild Earth Action Team visited Port Aransas on a mission to save whooping cranes. Our team removed 138 abandoned crab traps from bays surrounding the area. Removing these traps keeps our bays clean and ensures plenty of food is available for whooping cranes.

P.S. We’re still several weeks away from these little ones making their public debut. Our animal team is making sure they are strong enough to navigate the habitat at Lemur Lookout before they venture out.

With concerns mom wasn’t producing enough milk, our zoologists stepped in to feed the infants by hand to ensure they got all the nutrients they needed. After 2 weeks, we stopped offering supplemental feedings, & the babies are now thriving.

We are thrilled to announce we have welcomed FOUR black and white ruffed lemur babies! Born to parents Alina and Iggy on March 7, these little ones are the first black and white ruffed lemurs babies at the Zoo in over 30 years!

Say hello to our emperor tamarin monkey TWINS, born March 29, to mom Lettie and dad Roger. These little ones can be seen riding on mom, or dad's back, and sometimes the backs of their older siblings, Chico and Ilsa! Stop by the Tamarin Treetops habitat to spot these little ones.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK: Say hello to our adorable GOAT BABIES! Arapawa goat, Susan, gave birth to one male kid on March 22, Aster gave birth to two female kids soon after, on March 28, and our third mama, Bluebonnet, gave birth to one female kid on April 6.

At almost 5 weeks old, Okubili is making trunk-tastic progress! This "little" man recently learned how to pick up small sticks with his trunk - a huge milestone for baby elephants! He also LOVES to splash around in the pool behind-the-scenes! 📷: Zoological Manager Audrey L.

We’re thrilled to share we have seven new perentie monitor babies! During the hatching, our teams found two perfectly formed healthy TWINS in one egg! This is a major accomplishment for our reptile team, as this is the first time twins have EVER been documented in this species!
