Finally done. Made a web page with all the better photos from Australia. There's about 75 bird species, a number of other animals, and >600 photos.

I’m a scientist. An introvert. I love my home life, such as working at home today with two pups curled up next to me. Yet I look at my work schedule and what do I see? A minimum of 18 weeks from here out this year where I will be traveling. With most of those all-week trips 😳

I would like to point out that my all-seeing nailed the final score... 🙂

Superb Owl #1 in the countdown! Bit of a compressed timeline today because I have things to do! A Northern Sawwhet Owl giving me a wink. Why is he winking? Because he KNOWS. He sees all!!! He says Chiefs 31, 49ers 24.

Superb Owl #2 in the countdown. From Antelope Island by the Great Salt Lake, a shy, yet curious Burrowing Owl.

Superb Owl #3 in the countdown. Northern Hawk Owl, hanging out in a bush, right at eye level outside your car window? Yes please!! I actually was too close at first, within minimum focusing distance (<12 feet).

Countdown to #4. Near Tucson, I knew Elf Owls nested in a Saguaro. Got up before dawn and camped out below it. Right before dawn he flew in, and landed in the bush in front of me. I had about 2 minutes with him sitting there, 15 feet away.

Superb Owl #5. Counting down from 54, getting into heady territory with the top 5! I'll go with roughly my top 5 fave owl photos here out. I just LOVE Great Horned Owls. Love hearing them at night on our house. I have to include one in the final top 5.

Superb Owl #6. Short-eared Owl surveying it's realm at Lacreek National Wildlife Refuge in southern South Dakota. I've always had good luck finding them there, when they seem to appear from nowhere about an hour before sunset.

Superb Owl #7. Easily the most "out in the open" Long-eared Owl I've ever encountered. He gave me a hell of a stare at first, but then...fell back asleep. This was the odd year of the weirdly tame Long-eareds.

Super Owl #8. I LOVE walking prairie dog towns. Any time of year...they're just so full of life. Walking on the Fort Pierre National Grasslands, I must have been walking too close to a nesting burrow, and this Burrowing Owl REALLY checked me out.

Super Owl #9. Perhaps one reason I have yet to see a Snowy Owl this year is all the snow on the ground. They're a lot easier to find without snow, such as this one in a harvested corn field.

Superb Owl #10 - Most commonly seen owl in the last post, now my least commonly seen owl species (of which I have photos), another Great Grey Owl.

Superb Owl #11 - The owl I see and hear the most, a Great Horned Owl. We have a tall 2-story house, and this time of year, a nesting pair from the park across the street likes to use it as a nighttime roost, with the 2 birds calling back and forth.

Superb Owl #13...Northern Hawk Owl. He wasn’t giving me the evil eye...he was looking around on the ground below his perch for prey.

Superb Owl #14. Snowy Owl greeting the morning with a yawn. This one was an easy target, found hanging out just on the outside of Sioux Falls.

Superb Owl #15. Another Short-eared Owl. This pretty much depicts how you normally see them here...on the Grasslands, from a distance, as they start to prowl near sunset.

Superb Owl #16. One of my oldest, an Eastern Screech Owl poking its head out of a tree cavity. Probably because it was a bit crowded, as later three fluffy youngsters also poked their heads out.
