We have now begun the question & answer portion of the evening.
“A chief source of happiness for some people is stuff that happens online... Stuff that happens online isn’t real. Someone on Twitter you’ve never met calling you a name with six followers isn’t real... You want to be happier? Delete the app.”
“Why do we fetishize the face-to-face meeting?”
Gladwell says the public should elect a president without knowing their race, age, gender, religion or height, and instead judged blindly based on merit.
When asked if he could put any message on a billboard, Gladwell says, “I’m Canadian, I just want people to be nice to each other.”
That’s a wrap on “An Evening with Malcolm Gladwell.” Thank you to all who helped make this event possible.
