Storytime about how some human kindness just broke me, because although I’ve been in a wonderful relationship for almost 2 years with a wonderful man, the abuse I went through still makes me feel weird when people are randomly patient and kind to me.

When I left my ex, my credit score was in the gutter. I failed my check to move into my flat because his bills took priority over mine. My phone bill went into arrears and I still have a CCJ looking over my head today - but they’ve not contacted me due to the situation.

My landlady took a chance on me and I moved in, bumping up my credit over an entire year to the point were it was actually medium range. Something I never thought I’d see. But when I moved out of the flat and in with Chris, I’d lost my job and it was in the middle of Lockdown 1

So I missed two payments to my water company for the flat. They never contacted me, I had no idea I’d missed them until I checked my credit score and it had plummeted back down. I contacted them and paid it off but it would still show on my score for 6 years. A stain.
