There’s so much closure and recovery going on and as much as Johnny is problematic I can’t help love his growth and character arc? Like damn I care about these characters

Yeah like even present day he has a lot of toxicity and perpetuates harm, but it's a lot more realistic portrayal for someone stuck in their ways for 30 years to lapse and not have it click all at once.

The way it handles the "where are you now" of two kids who peaked in high school is just so good because those experiences came with so much trauma the films had no chance to properly address.
