Why would people mute words though, you miss out on so much if you do that. How can someone have a discussion about anything if something as simple as a word triggers you. Genuine question btw

So words can trigger flashbacks, PTSD, disassociation etc. Blanking them out protects people that might be affected by it.

That's fair enough but putting a * instead of an a or an i doesn't change much imo no?

It does, there’s a difference in seeing GRAB and GR*B It takes longer for the brain to register the second one. And if we can protect people with a simple * why wouldn’t we?

People need to stop being pedantic and just let people censor trigger words

My issue is that if someone muted "fuck", it won't pick up on "f*ck", so the mute was worthless and so was the censoring.

There might be first time users, people might not know the mute button exists. Why are y’all so pressed about protecting victims of abuse?
