And I quote 'don't be silly, period pains are often as bad as childbirth contractions, my daughter can be on the floor screaming and I know it's normal' - most unsympathetic, dismissive NHS GP I ever had. Her poor daughter. I'm still tryna get diagnosed c:

It’s horrifying that it takes so long to diagnose. Between 5 and 15 years. Ridiculous. Why aren’t people being taken seriously about this? Period pains THAT painful aren’t normal

I was given extra strong painkillers by my doctor (I have an immunity to normal painkillers, I’m a MUTANT!) and said “Pains like this are normal when you change your birth control” I think we’re a long way off.

My, female, GP dismissed it. "Yes, periods are painful. I suffer too" But there's pain, and there's vomiting/passing out from pain. There's being taken to A&E with suspected appendicitis to be told "it's your period. But come back because next time it might be your appendix"

My wife suffers still from pains caused by endomitosis. After numerous operations, having a hysterectomy at 35, and being on morphine based painkillers. Now it's all down to scarring left over, it is a horrible nasty condition that need more light shed on it

Yeah unfortunately It’s fairly normal for certain groups to be dismissed when they come in for pain. Heck I dealt with chronic migraine and fatigue since I was 9 and wasn’t given a diagnosis on either till I was 28, & issues that affect women more then men are often under studied

It’s the worst! 8 years for me and then just a constant back and forth since then really. Even after diagnosis, the treatments aren’t great
