I don't think people are doing this to be spiteful or malicious, I think it comes down to ignorance, but this is why pulling your eyes back for the "fox eye" trend ain't it

Honestly I have NO idea why this is even a thing like Who thought of this? Why didn't they have the mojo to realise that it's a racist gesture? Also why is it so hard to just go "Shit sorry I had no idea that was offensive" and just stop?

I think a lot of people dislike admitting that what they are doing or have done is wrong. It hasn't been normalised to realise and then "go back on what you said/did" when it is fine to do that, it's called learning and growing. That being said...

... I still don't understand why things like this have to be debated? If someone who is black says "don't do that, it's racist" to you, who did something that incited them to say that, why does it become a debate?
Same thing here with the insta message... white fragility

Oh because people think that playing 'devils advocate' makes them smart and sophisticated instead of just saying 'Yep, I can see why that's racist' I told an ex friend off for doing a racist accent and they kicked off about it, didn't admit they were wrong or apologise

So I showed their mum knowing she'd be pissed and she kicked off at him. And he STILL insisted this accent wasn't racist because 'It's a joke, obviously I don't BELIEVE what I'm saying??' Ok then you can make different jokes, it's really not hard

Yes, see I do think incidents like this are when people cannot admit to others, or even in themselves that what they have done was wrong. Because in our own minds we always want to think we are "good" right? It's incredibly frustrating when trying to help educate people. :/

I saw one defence that was like "Well, Asian people brighten their skin to look white so how is that ok?" and I'm trying to be an ally and learn to let people from the community speak up but DAMN I wanna say some bad words and people that try the reverse racism crap

o lord. It is sometimes very frustrating trying to educate people and not shut them down. I have been guilty of this so many times, but trying to learn to understand when someone wants to be educated vs wants to be defensive no matter what is where I am at haha :D0 Antworten 0 Retweets 1 Gefällt mirDanke!
