I've been able to confirm that this was in fact! an internal test from @tribpub. If you click the links, you get a message from the company's training contractor saying you clicked on a simulated phishing test.
The level of cruelty is actually stunning, even for this company.
It is so exhausting being distracted from actual work by this stuff. It's demoralizing and honestly, embarrassing. I feel embarrassed when I take to twitter, once again, to bring light to stupid stuff like this when there's harm out in the world that needs my attention.
Sad that I could so easily tell it was a phishing email because bonuses in journalism are nonexistent.
