If we could do the whole thing over again, I'd probably change several things: The first would be to pick a better title, "The Impact of Academically Homogeneous Classrooms for Undergraduate Statistics." We can be more interesting that that

ability grouping doesnt appear to hurt either, no? Lowest ability group actually seems to get a good boost. My a priori would be against ability grouping, this is just what I get from a quick glance.

The performance of the cadets was too varied to see if ability grouping hurt or helped. You can see the faded dots behind the bars that student’s performance was all over the map - especially in the lowest groups. The biggest indicator of performance was past math performance.

We did a similar study to look at the impact of teachers in this environment. Our analysis found no impact from indivdual teachers on student performance (test grades). We felt it was most likely due to bench marking by cadets. They earn the grade they want and prioritize events.
