The Insect Apocalypse Is Here “10 to 60 times less arthropod biomass than before. (It’s easy to read that number as 60 percent less, but it’s sixtyfold less: Where once he caught 473 milligrams of bugs, Lister was now catching just eight milligrams.)”

Stray light is bad for Nevadans' health, ecosystem, astronomy, stargazing, astrophotography, tourism, economy. Light pollution is (a) key ‘bringer of insect apocalypse’ "bug deaths can be cut by switching off unnecessary lights" via Thread:

The Geminid meteor shower is active now! In California/Nevada it’s fully dark, radiant point is rising, just left/northward of east. Captured at least 6 meteors already, saw a spectacular fireball!
