Abusing your prescriptive authority to call in scripts that are OUT OF YOUR SCOPE OF PRACTICE is a hard no. Never mind that HCQ +Azith was based on a very small, flawed trial. Calling in scripts for yourself + family members is always a no. You don’t ‘doctor’ family/yourself.

I had no idea this tweet would reach so many. So let me clarify a few things: 1. This is not all dentists, just an awkward phone convo with 1 guy that left me feeling irked 2. I want a miracle cure more than anyone. But we can’t put the cart before the horse. Still need evidence

3. This is not an isolated incident. This has happened to me a lot over the last few days with providers calling in or writing bogus Rx’s for HCQ based on ..nothing really 4. Our supply is running low and we need to save it for our patients with lupus, RA, etc (or legit covid dx)

Same thing happened to me yesterday but from an Opthamologist from CA no less, tried self prescribing HCQ for himself and family in FL. Refused to fill. No.

Selfish. It’s antidotal at this point!

Why didn’t they look at the studies first? From what I’ve gleaned this cocktail is about as effective as taking tamiflu 5 days into a bout in influenza, at best. Is this limited potential effect worth your integrity and your license? Nope.

How’s someone practicing as a dentist when their capacity to read scientific medical info isn’t there nor is appropriate prescribing protocol

Thank you! I have a sibling on it for lupus & RA. These patients shouldn't be sacrificed over panic.

You are correct.
