  4. Was thinking about that today. Team won its first two series including beating Scherzer and the Nats, Acuna is on the way soon, Camargo on the way, and most of the questions and talk today are about who they’ll sign next winter when they’re clearly waiting to see what needs are.

  10. Like a year ago when Acuna wasn’t rated as high in most top 100s as Riley is now, the Braves should’ve signed a free agent OF and traded Acuna? Or same for Ozzie a year ago?

  11. Once again: this year is being used to evaluate Riley and others. It doesn’t make sense to you; it definitely does make sense to many of us. More importantly, it does to Braves officials.

  14. No, because if they determine they need a shortstop it’d be different than if they determine they need a 3B, and so on. And if they had a couple of injuries to rotation then that might suddenly be a big need. So, in my opinion, kind of pointless for me to speculate a week in.

  15. Depends largely on where biggest need is, and that’s what this season will be used for — to evaluate players and prospects and determine biggest need.

  17. The object is to develop your own guys where you can, then fill in the gaps where you don’t have your own affordable players coming up through system. Not spend big dollars on one of the positions where you potentially have your own homegrown stud.

  19. They won’t need to or try to outbid for arenado or any other 3B if Riley continues developing as he has. Everyone in organization is bullish on him. Not just as a power hitter but he’s made himself into a good defender.
