I wasn’t taught apathy. When dealing with people, I was taught to use respect and kindness where possible, and OpFor were people ready to die for their country. Now, the caveat on that was we were not to die for ours, rather oblige those ready to die for theirs.

I wasn't either, nor am I saying that everyone is like this, but the overall culture at least in the Marines, never shows respect for the dead, unless its our own. We have very glaring issues like Scout Snipers using the SS symbol, and Marines pissing on dead combatants.

I don’t know about that, personally, though I wouldn’t doubt it. We were taught not to piss off anyone we didn’t have to. “Be polite, be professional, and have a plan to kill everyone you meet.” (iirc, that is a Mattis Quote)
