The commenters wrapped themselves in a cloak of self righteousness about supporting and voting team blue. They offered the person haggard feedback, and even one person talked about how they were offended by the post. It was one of the grossest things I have seen.
I thought about jumping in and telling them that's it's not about them, that just because they vote for team blue, it doesn't give them the moral high ground. But I know it would have de-evolved into a shit show quickly, and that would have detracted from my friend's post.
Here's the rub. Had I jumped in, they certainly would have told me that I am privileged. In showing support for my friend, they would convince themselves that I was not a friend to this person, that they were, and my contribution was proof that they are morally superior.
So, here I am, letting my friend speak for themselves and stand on their own, knowing full well that their message largely fell on deaf ears (or eyes, as the case is). That the platitudes offered are hollow and without substance.
The OP proved, without trying, how ignorant people can be by letting themselves say deeply ignorant things. It reminds me not to try to be morally superior, rather to listen, understand and support those who have something substantive to say.
