I sometimes think about how absolutely awful my life would be right now if I had been elected to Congress in 2018. I dunno if I'm looking at things the right way here, but silver linings or something.

Things for me personally are pretty good here in my underground disease-proof spider hole, but the outside world is a screaming nightmare and I just can't imagine flying to Washington every week right now and putting on a game face all the time

Having looked at it up close, I think there are basically two varieties of people who run for office at that level: 1) a handful of people who are genuinely willing to suffer - get shit on all the time, beg for money, never see their families - for an ill-defined greater good, or

2) genuinely terrible people with terrible motives. One of those categories contains a lot more members than the other; I'll leave it to the reader to figure out which. But this is the inevitable outcome of a pay-to-play system with only two teams.

You’re absolutely right on every point. For those of us who have a passion to fight for others for good and true purposes, it always comes with a proverbial beating; it’s part of the equation. Many of us get knocked down, but some of us get back up and move forward.
