We’re excited that we have a very real shot at taking on Trey in the general. We aim to aggressively hit him on on putting profits over people to enrich himself and his wealthy friends. He doesn’t represent us. #WeNotMe #PuttingPeopleFirst #SayByeTrey

With the current unrest in mind I'm curious Mr. Dorris, on what you would consider or promote to address Law Enforcement misconduct

I have heard a few great ideas so far, but I haven’t settled on any just yet. I do support the demilitarization of law enforcement. One thing I am considering is a zero tolerance law on violent deaths by leos, but there’s additional facets about that that should be considered.

Zero tolerance for violent deaths by LEO would be difficult with the myriad of circumstances that our officers may find themselves in. Does your military background give you any insight into the current ROE used by our LE and how it may be updated?

The primary difference that I have seen is that our armed forces are not to fire unless fired upon. If that happens, the punishment is harsh, and proportional to outcome of the event. I’ve heard that “to be safe”, that LEO’s are pushed to shoot to kill so there’s fewer questions.

The problem with that mentality because they need to have the courage to face those events and exercise self restraint and prioritize saving lives rather taking them “to be safe”. Which is also different than military engagement.
