    Fun gaming hardware week for me Not just the Steam Deck either! Also fell down the CRT rabbit hole and have a baby PVM and 19" VGA monitor on their way - along with a Super Famicom and my very first SCART cable (and BNC adapter!) Now to find enough space to set it all up...

    Just bought a CRT monitor. I miss it so much for gaming. Was spurred to action after showing my kid ULMB and realizing how far we still have to go on LCD tech. Dumped my tubes around 2006 and have missed CRTs ever since Bonus! It'll double up nicely for input latency testing 😎

    Growing up I wanted to make games so bad. I would read every snippet of behind-the-scenes game dev I could get my hands on, teach myself whatever tools I had access to, and dream of the day I assumed would never come when I'd be making games 1/2

    👆This. Feedback vs Direction is a super important delineation to make. In my experience a lot of people take feedback from someone higher up the ladder as direction and it all goes sideways. I like to start feedback meetings by going over the "rules".

    Delivering actionable notes to game teams can be very challenging. Screwing it up leads to frustration and lots of extra work. One of our directors at Bungie introduced a method of separating our responses into three distinct categories that's really helped us give better notes.

    Who cares if you’re taking a 3 hour shit and learning how to needlepoint in-between compiles or, I dunno, having an affair with your sourdough starter. Just meet your obligations and it’s good. You’re paid for your output, not raw seconds of your precious human lifespan. Christ.
