    How is it possible that so many people still live as if didn’t exist? An important reason is that our beliefs determine access to our social groups. media encourage participation in like-minded groups, even when the underlying beliefs are mistaken.

    The denial that there is a often stems from a desire to preserve individual liberty. But the value of liberty cannot drive our approach to pandemics, since this will just make the pandemics worse. It is a misapplication of value.

    is an important value. Restricting liberty is bad - unless people are harming others. Unvaccinated people risk harming others. To prevent this, their liberty should be restricted. Applying the principle of liberty to is a misapplication.

    has an important role to play to economic prosperity with social prosperity within planetary boundaries. But business cannot do it alone. Even shifting the focus from value to value is not sufficient… 1/
