I'm disturbed and disgusted by last night's attacks involving the so-called "Proud Boys." Hate has no place in New York. This warrants immediate and thorough investigation by the NYPD to bring the perpetrators to justice. Anyone with information should call 1-800-577-TIPS.

A consequence the Kavanaugh debacle is the hardening the parties into two perilous positions:The Republicans adopting Trump's mockery and dismissal of women, the Democrats denigrating fairness and due process. My Atlantic piece:

42 years after The Selfish Gene, most science writers still don't understand that natural selection does not act for the good of the species. Otherwise excellent NYT article: Plants Can’t Talk. But Some Fruits Say ‘Eat Me’ to Animals.
