This is what partnership in Portland looks like. No violent activity against the courthouse last night. Stepping up and doing the right thing should not take 60 days.

As the Wall goes up, illegal crossings go down. This past week we built over 10 miles of Wall at our Southern Border. We now have 256 miles of NEW Wall and we are on track to have 300 miles completed by the end of August!

Oregon finally stepping up & cooperating with federal law enforcement as we've asked for two long months. Until we're assured the new plan works, current augmented forces will remain in Portland. The seat of justice must be protected from criminal & violent activity.

DHS's mission doesn't stop. Not in Portland or elsewhere. We will only reduce our presence in Portland once we are certain the courthouse is safe and state leaders have followed through on the promise to (finally) partner with us to achieve peace through responsible policing.

DHS will not reduce our presence in Portland until we are assured the federal courthouse is secure and that the agreed-upon partnership plan with the State of Oregon is successful over time. But we need to make sure of that first.

The state of Oregon is finally agreeing to cooperate with our federal forces--exactly what we asked for since the nightly violence broke out two months ago. We're glad Oregon is now correcting their months long error.

As I told the Governor yesterday, federal law enforcement will remain in Portland until the violent activity toward our federal facilities ends. We are not removing any law enforcement while our facilities and law enforcement remain under attack.
