Thank you, James. My concern is this false dichotomy. the choice isn’t between either becoming a guru/empire or doing nothing (or at best following a guru)

This is where my heart is too. I haven't found that the distinction is b/t the local and the global, the small and the scaled up. It's not even an intellectual matter, strictly. It's about a common sensibility, and the latter is shared by a special subset of fellow weirdos.
