Our 2015 “Dyslexics Unite!” shirts were at the heart of Dr. Allington’s hate filled rhetoric yesterday. Buy one today to support all the dyslexia advocates nationwide working tirelessly for all children to be taught to read. Thank you!

"I'm introducing legislation to establish new, clearer standards for the training of new teachers and the development of current teachers, grounded in the evidence and science of reading, with proven methods like phonics-based instruction.” ()

I love this. Local Tennessee dyslexia parents like worked hard to engage Marshall County School Board, Mayor and TN State Rep on literacy and dyslexia. Such a powerful night. Thank you to all involved. 👊🏼

I wish more TN mayors were like Mayor Bingham of Lewisburg, TN and would talk about the huge impact of reading on the economy and the importance of dyslexia training for teachers. He is a model to other mayors on this issue. Thank you!

Mayor Bingham of Lewisburg, spoke about the impact of reading on the economy, supporting dyslexia training through a local foundation w/ funding, & his personal connection to dyslexia w/ his grandson. TN State Representative, was present. Excellent work! Thank you!

We are so proud of our Marshall Co. members who hosted a fantastic Literacy/Dyslexia Workshop with their School Board and Mayor on January 21 at MC School Board in Lewisburg, TN.

❗️Our students with must explicitly be taught how to read words. It seems simple, but it is not how children are currently taught in Tennessee. Our children are taught to look at pictures and guess. It has to stop. 🛑 Thank you.

Thank you! 👊🏾This is one of the biggest issues in our recent work. We must get our higher ed institutions in Tennessee to train teachers to teach reading how brains learn. It matters not just to students with dyslexia but to all TN students!

This is a big take-away from today’s TN Dyslexia Advisory Council too. Parents with questions in TN about dyslexia can now EMAIL questions about right to our Department of Ed. Great job Council! 🙌🏼 SayDyslexia.Questions@tn.gov

Another ground breaking piece we are hearing from Laura Coon of is that “We cannot continue to certify teachers who cannot teach children to read.” She ensures us that is looking closely at higher ed and teacher certification in preservice. This is huge y’all. 🔥

This article lays out our experiences very well. Three cueing harms kids. Denying dyslexia harms kids. Saying the earth is flat is baffling, but at least no one is harmed. These horrendous beliefs about reading harm many.

    Allington’s remarks aren’t just irresponsible, they’re dangerous.

Yes, and many of our kids had teachers who didn't know what to do because they were taught by Allington. These are good, kind teachers who were simply taught ....dyslexia isn't real ...and didn't know how to help once they encountered it.
