    Se me escapó el "para máquinas". También hay algoritmos para personas, lo que se les suele llamar recetas (si son de cocina) o procedimientos (de evacuación, por ejemplo).

    Los algoritmos son recetas para máquinas. PUNTO. Lo que "algoritmo" suena más guay, en plan "yo sé algo que tú no sabes".

    He escrito en defensa de los algoritmos. Existen algunos opacos y peligrosos, pero son los menos. La gran mayoría de los algoritmos son más tontos y más útiles 🤖:

    On Tuesday, in my class, we have learnt that all a neural net does is stretching / contracting the space fabric. For example this 3-layer net (1 hidden layer of 100 positive neurons) gets its 5D logits (2D projections) linearly separable by the classifier hyperplanes (lines).

    You want GAN stability without having to resort to complex architectures? It seems that my easy-to-implement "causal GAN" lead to even more stability than Relativistic GAN (see table from my old paper with new results).

    Bayes won't die, it's a good theorem with many applications, but I suspect Bayesian models on weights "p(w|data)" may die one day (in the far future). We are slowly moving away from prior on weights to prior on functions.

    Bayes has been down & out, lost in the gutter, not just once—but many times e.g. the 19th c. The glory of Bayes is that it has *always* gotten back to its feet. Why? Because someone has always *needed* it to get some real work done. Bayes won't die—if it could, it would have.

    This must be a sign. Back when I presented my paper at AAAI-MAKE, a good amount of people suggested that I should write down my intuitions and rules of thumb for working with neural networks, so... Coming soon! 😬

    I've just finished a 4 part series on hosting your own blog; no coding, ads, paywalls, or fees. You can write in an online editor, MS Word, or Google Docs (including images). If you haven't started blogging yet, perhaps this will help you get started! 😊
