Scorch the earth, then, Mitch. Oh wait. Scorched Earth is what will literally happen if we don’t circumscribe the filibuster and pass aggressive climate legislation.

We discuss options for project scope, financing. They follow-up. Then, we've got it..in striking distance of the gas price. Next day Jay is on site (pictured), and works through the weekend. Heat! THANK YOU, . Decarbonize buildings? I think we can do it!

Which brings me to . I talk to . From the very initial conversation, these folks are ON it. Cheery, not trying to talk me out of heat pumps, ready to help scope the project to meet my needs. A day later he's got a guy on site. Yay! 5/

I talk to HVAC guy number 2. We're now a week later. I talk to him. He can help, and it should be about the same as the gas option. Yay! He sends a guy. Then ghosts on me for a week. Then... DOUBLE the price as gas option. Uh-oh. 4/

But he thinks it's a bad idea. Uh-oh. Way more complicated. It will a bit over 50% more and no price guarantee. He can give me a good deal on the gas unit installation. Uh-oh. Luckily, I know another guy, based out of Staten Island. 3/

First, a stroke of luck: tenants love the idea of switching to a heat pump. They're even willing to heat the house with electric units for a bit while I sort things out. Yay! More luck, the HVAC guy I've used for repairs before says he can do a heat pump no problem. Yay! 2/

So, replacing methane gas in homes is hard... maybe? The rooftop gas-powered unit for my Brooklyn apartment conked, permanently. Huge capital expense, and since I rent the place, I needed to fix it quick. A short and warming story about heat pumps 1/
