Just left hospital appt and doctor pointed out, on leaked NHS UK-US documents, that the NHS is “an incredible resource of critical data” that most pharmaceutical companies would love to get their hands on in any deal.

Actually it isn’t. It should be but the completely chaotic nature of data maintenance and retrieval in the NHS means it’s very hard to access this information.

A decent IT strategy would benefit the NHS and reduce costs.

And I dunno, UK biobank is seen as a world leading exemplar. The UK, is, for once, on the leading edge of rolling out personalised genomics. The NHS may be fragmented, but that isn't close to the whole story. Go do some research for a change.

Take it from someone who has worked in NHS data for ten years, it really isn’t. All trusts have to upload data returns to centralised organisations via Unify etc.

Utter tripe. Data is bounced around all levels of the NHS system with simplistic ease. You know, I know it, the patients know it. Somebody already accessed the NHS system & crippled it I put it to you that data gathering would be an absolute breeze for any skilled code monkey

Gold mining yields 20g/ton of ore at best, which is why nobody has ever bothered doing it. Inefficiency stops nothing.
