It's #EarthDay and I want to take a moment to recognize some of the unsung heroes who are making our city a better place everyday. Thank you to the crews working on our Clean City Initiative, who have cleared more than 5 million pounds of litter from our streets and parks.

This #EarthDay we want to thank our Clean City crews who have been working to clean up litter & garbage across the city. Pictured below is our Southwest Crew at Longfellow Creek, where staff worked to remove debris in the creek & litter in the natural areas off of the trails.

(1/3 ) We will not tolerate antisemitism or hate in Seattle. I join in speaking out against this act of vandalism. Seattleites are kind. We stand for inclusion. We welcome those in need.

Congratulations to my dear friend and sister Deborah Parker on being named CEO of NABS. You’ve been instrumental in the MMIWG Movement, the Boarding School Resolution, and so much more. I can’t wait to see the great things you’ll do ahead.

I’m honored by my colleague’s trust in my leadership during these challenging times. I commit to you and our city to serve as a bridge-builder and lead with my values: humility, civility, effectiveness and an appreciation for each other’s humanity.
