Look! Books by actual black authors. I've read the ones from , , and . All are highly recommended Or you could add a picture of a black person to something you slept through in High School English class. It's up to you, though you know my recommendation

Me reading this cool article about Christina Koch - who has now been in space longer than any woman before: Cool. I bet has some comment on this. Me Checking the byline: Oh. Should have known. This is very cool. You should all read it.

Thread. Legacies are complicated, but it's too easy and too natural to not think of victims - especially young women. Let us give everyone the voice they deserve.

The larger firms have more people, are more likely to have SOME non-productive time to test something new, to evaluate. That's harder in a small shop. A small firm with the best team is the most nimble, but never discount a big firm with good processes.

Large firms have process. They're too big to depend on one person, so there's a procedure. If you want to introduce a new technology, you ask this group for approval. This group tests it. Does that take time? Maybe. Maybe not.

You end up with a kind of tunnel-vision based on the opinions and biases of the lead tech/field engineer/designer. A small firm might only have one or two people in this position. How well they adapt is VERY dependent on having the *right* one or two people. What of large firms?

You'd think this, but I felt there was more design flexibility to try new solutions at Whitlock then with the much smaller Spectra. A small firm can easily fall into the "one-tech" trap in which one person's opinion gets disproportionate weight

Michael Bloomberg has now been endorsed by John Mellencamp and Mr. Met. (Also John Cougar Mellencamp and John Cougar if anyone's counting). I have no idea what to make of that.

I've worked for both and and have personal thoughts regarding both. Personal experience aside, I wish all of the hard working professionals in the newly merged mega-company the absolute best of success as we write this new chapter of our industry.

Am I the only fan who doesn't care if Cohen pulls out of the deal? I get as mad with the Wilpons as the next guy, but why would I want to cheer for a billionaire hedge-fund manager who almost certainly got away with committing crimes to make his fortune?

Last thought on Iowa Caucuses and why the app isn't the problem: As of this morning, 71% of the results are in, representing a vote total of 1554. This would mean that just over 2000 people participated, of 700,000 registered democrats in Iowa. That's about .3% participation

I have no idea why so many people don't think this guy is the asshole. You don't publicly shame your kids. Full stop. Especially for somethign as petty as not emptying the dishwasher. He's setting his kid up to hate him, and with good cause.

This is how and other tech people should think - define the problem. Make sure you're looking at the right problem. THEN comes the solution. But please, let's not double-down on an antiquated process which is exclusionary by its very nature.

It's easy for those of us engaged in tech to put on our technologist hats and say "this can be fixed; they need better QC. Beta testing. Open source. Blockchains.". That's an answer to the wrong question. The real question is "how do we get as many voices heard as possible?"

Reminder about Iowa (and Nevada) caucus The app is not the problem Tech is not the problem A two-day wait for results is not the problem A lack of accessibility to parts of the electorate IS the problem. As usual, Ana has lived experience and says it better than I can anyway
