Becoming the world’s best a almost anything requires dedication, grit, incredible learning mindset, resiliency and practice. These are skills that will make you successful at Shopify. Retired Olympic gymnast, fastest speed cuber? I’d love to chat.
This has always been true, and we wanted to make it more explicit. If you have any proofs of applied extraordinary ability outside of academic credentials, our careers page now has a VIP-Access section: https://shopify.com/careers/vip-access…
Santa Claus Update: My son asked me yesterday about it. He already knew, and when I asked him why he thought adults told stories, he winked at his 3yo sister. In his words: Santa lives in the same world as unicorns and witches, a magic world for the "littles" <3
Not every kids will receive gifts this year. There are plenty of organizations helping out. If you can, consider helping a family in need, help them believe in the magic of Christmas.
Be nice people <3
Every gift guide for men is like:
-whiskey stones
-beard oil
-personalized grilling accessory
-Jonathan Franzen novel
-beer of the month club
-novelty socks
-leather weekend bag
-bluetooth speaker
Last year for Christmas I got my brother the “bug a-salt” (hehe) gun. Basically a toy gun in which you shoot table salt at flying insects, which is way more fun than a fly swatter.
I sometimes see teams fall into a trap where they have user needs defined from real insights, but then design a UI which demands more than what’s available. And suddenly the energy switches from solving user needs to solving UI needs.
Let me give a concrete example…
54 millions. Our government lack of extremely basic tech literacy is shocking. Imagine what the budget looked like:
-Dev: 200,000 h
-Design: 50,000 h
-Mgmt: 20,000 h
ArriveCan’s $54-million price tag ‘outrageous,’ tech leaders say https://theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-arrivecan-app-covid-19/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter…
Love when something that looks deceptively simple actually does something powerful and innovative - a new method for tracking fake reviews? How will other platforms create something similar?
The "Time spent using app" addition to Shopify App Store reviews section is a game-changer.
Love that they're trying to crack down on fake and low-quality reviews which can really hurt growing apps.
Il reste deux mois avant les élections.
La qualité de l’air doit être mise à l’agenda politique.
Je tweeterai tous les jours jusqu’à ce que tous les partis s’engagent à mettre en place un plan d’action pour purifier l’air qu’on respire.

I've spent the past couple of months refactoring the Polaris UI Kits for @ShopifyUX . Lots of work making sure each Figma component matches the codebase so designers and developers are working from the same tooling.
Last day of a month full of english idioms, drawings & fun with @marina_verdu
We figured that ghost town was the best way to finish because we could combine #Halloween2020 and #QuarantineLife in one illustration.

At shopify, we provide designers with a low quality monitor upon request (in addition to a high quality one). It’s one of the many things we do to improve our product for our merchants.
