For all the people who say, “but we’re not Amsterdam!” and for those of us who know that can and must do better, here is our new role model: Paris.

People Who Cycle in Winchester #9: Steve, a postman. "We lived near the Thornycroft shipyards ... At 4 o’clock every day there was a mass exodus of workers and the local streets were completely taken over with pushbikes ... quite a sight."

My pleasure folks - my little boys (in a bike trailer!) and I cycle around Winchester pretty much every day & after hundreds of recent conversations it’s clear more and more people want better & safer cycling routes and options - the charter is great - keep up the good work!

This survey from is a bit awkward for everyday utility cyclists, it seems geared for sport and leisure cycling. Nonethless I'd encourage all to respond and use the free text boxes to give your views. Takes 5-10 minutes.

Sorry for short notice. Winchester is consulting on Strategic Priorities for the Local Plan: closing 12 April. We don't have a crib sheet for you, but - as people of good intent and instinct - it would be great if you could respond to some/all of it.
