I didn't realize it at first but documentaries are powerful political tools of persuasion. My naivete' caused me to produce one such film http://www.blackwhiteandbluefilm.com My film is incredible if I must say so myself, but every film festival passed on it. Why, you ask?

Simple. The narrative is not one promoted by any political faction in the country. This makes it problematic because it can adversely affect films that toe the line. In other words, it has the potential of redirecting thought. NO ONE in power wants that.

I saw all of this early and honestly that was the impetus for my attacks on Jay Z. Yes, Jay is a fraud, but so are 90% people you see on your television, if not more. That's not enough reason to go after him. His status as the "go to" guy for black documentary content was though.

Lately, I've been doing the same with Obama for the same reason. Being a fraud or a sucker won't earn my attention. There's far too many of those for me to bother with, but getting in my way is a different story altogether. I come out "swinging" or "squeezing." HOWEVER you prefer

The homie
@oldmoneygang1 know me from decades ago in Baltimore and@GqNyc1 remember me from pressing up on mob controlled construction sites in 90's NYC. The real mob not some street gang. No matter what, when or where my style is to take the fight to you. So that's what I did.Show this thread -
I saw the Kalief Browder documentary with Jay's name on it rolled by the Trayvon Martin docuseries based on a book by Lisa Bloom and produced by the Weinstein Co. I understood black filmmakers were being squeezed out of producing black content UNLESS it served the powers that be.

So, I went at Jay. Jay's a great rapper. He's in my top 5, but he's also a top 5 tool in exploiting black ignorance. I can separate the 2. Most people can't. Serious black conservatives have been in touch with me. One even discussed having my film screened at the White House.

I don't know if he was just talking but I'm pretty sure after he saw it that idea went out the window. Why? Because everyone got criticized in the film. Not by me. I just let authentic black voices speak. There were 2 blacks and one Latina who favored Trump. They were a minority.

It was important for me to get a diverse set of views. As diverse as I could, anyway. I didn't want the project to be a "hit piece." I wanted balance and I wanted my film to spark a discussion, not fan the flames of dissension and outrage. We have plenty of that already.

Ultimately, I wanted to help people understand the fears and concerns of black people. There are real issues that never get addressed because of people like Jay-Z, and now Obama who "produce" content that serve the interest of their political benefactors. THAT will NEVER be ME.

I understand and appreciate the way you approached the making of this film. There is far too much dissension already and fanning the flames was already Obama's job after he reignited the fire.
-
Thank you. I attempted to present an honest voice of the people. I agreed with some things in the film and disagreed with some but for the sake of objectivity I included it all.

Silencing a voice/opinion opposite your own is just playing their game. Cheers

Just the same old bullshit. Executive producer credits for no work and attaching their name. Just another sinecure for the Obama's. They have gotten them their entire careers. Michelle getting paid more than doctors to have a no-show job they created at a hospital before the WH.
