Why did humans evolve to find water completely neutral-tasting? Would giving it a specific taste run the risk of some people finding that taste bad? If so, does that mean if you and I disagree about how good something tastes, we really are arguing over the same quale?

Would also have to control for quality. Some has a taste due to metals, it can also start tasting like pool when chlorine (tasteless) interacts with urea-like chemicals. My guess is we measure taste based on differentials of experienced quale. Leading tohttps://mobile.twitter.com/gracecondition/status/1041042996290969600 …

I think some people are better at tasting certain bacteria associated chemicals, much like that thing that tastes like soap if you have the specific mutation. But thats just a longer term differential of experience encoded in genes + gene expression.
